WILD WOODSKILLS CHALLENGE
Bowl Turning, Spoon Carving and Stool Making
The Wild Woodskills Challenge is a set of fun taster activities tailored to the beginner, using nature’s resources.
Teams are given a demonstration of safe tool skills by our experts before each challenge. Then, working in teams, they rotate around the three activities to create a pole-lathe food bowl, a carved spoon, and a three legged stool, essentials within any bodger's* camp.
Duration: Approx. 3 Hours. All challenges can be paired with others for a full day.
Supplementary activities for your group: Fire by Friction, Deer Tracking, Storytelling, Foraging, Cordage, Mud Pugging (an ancient Sussex clay-target game).
Event Partner*: Here we work with members of the Sussex Bodgers group: Pole Lathe and Green Woodworking Association.
