Charcoal Drawing for Dementia - Free Session and Lunch
Tue 24 Feb
|Wild Weald
Aimed at those living with the early stages of dementia and their carers, this is an opportunity to spend time with friends in our woodland environment. You'll create art using charcoal pencils, experience how they were made, and even get a chance to draw on the trees, as our ancestors might have.

About the event
This event draws on knowledge gained from research into the charcoal making past of our woods, as well as the activities from our Wild Charcoal days.
The day begins with a quick forage for nearby stems from which to create a range of charcoal pencil textures. Then the group helps to start the firing process for the pencils, before being given a quick and fun instruction into how to draw a Green Man. From there, we hone our creations on paper, before transferring them to the natural canvas of our trees.
The event includes a three course lunch, made largely from produce from the woodland and our farm. Refreshments and drinks are included.
"Wow! My wife and I have taken part in numerous workshops (charcoal making / basket making / cheese and bread making) with Pam, Francis and Amy and each has been unique, enriching and so much fun; all…
